Young Thug has requested Killer Mike, T.I., and Lyor Cohen to be on the witness stand in his upcoming trial. 

According to AllHipHop, the detained rapper born Jeffrey Williams has requested that fellow Atlanta legends Killer Mike, T.I, Cohen, Trae Tha Truth, and the chairperson of Atlantic Records, Julie Greenwald, speak on his behalf as he awaits the trial. 

The listed industry figures who previously worked with Thug and had a professional relationship with him before his arrest can be utilized during the heavily delayed trial, as he believes that they all can attest to his true character, not the alleged leader of a criminal street gang. 

The 32-year-old rapper was arrested on gang-related charges and was ultimately hit with RICO after his YSL record label was accused of committing several crimes. Thug was also labeled as the alleged leader of the YSL gang. 

During the significant takedown, Thug and 27 other individuals, including Gunna, were charged in a broad grand jury indictment that named all 28 individuals as members of the same deadly street gang and accused some of horrific crimes like murder and attempted armed robbery.

According to Vulture, the 88-paged indictment YSL, “Young Slime Life,” as a “criminal street gang” and alleges 182 instances of the collective’s participating in gang activity and criminal conspiracies, citing lyrics, social media posts, and clothing or accessories with SLIME emblazoned on them as evidence. 

As he continues to fight this long legal battle, Thug has seen many obstacles that have prevented the trial since its announcement. 

In August, his co-defendant, Cordarius Dorsey, was placed on a separate trial after he was accused of murdering Xavier Arlandor Turner in January 2020. Dorsey was already incarcerated and was serving life without the possibility of parole for a 2019 homicide. 

“No more #YSL hearings/jury selection until Aug. 31. Defendant Cordarius Dorsey is currently on trial for murder in an unrelated case in front of another judge,” Carla Russon tweeted. “Therefore, no more activities will happen until that case has concluded.”

After he displayed strange courtroom behavior, the beloved rapper also requested that his co-defendant, YSLO Polo, be removed from the RICO case. Thug believed that doing so would ensure a fair trial. 

As he continues to fight for his freedom, his current girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, shared that he plays the viral game Candy Crush to pass the time.
