To stop a witness from testifying against them, YNW Melly used Rihanna’s name during his witness tampering attempt.

As their double-murder case continues, TMZ learned that prosecutors claim that YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen used the code name Rihanna to try to prevent some witnesses from working with the authorities and testify against them.

In their attempt to stop Melly’s ex girlfriend, Mariah Hamilton, and her mother, Felicia Holmes from testifying against them, Melly (born Jamell Demons) and Bortlen (born Cortlen Henry) allegedly used the mogul’s name to secretly name drop Hamilton as she “stays back in a Maybach,” as they hinted Hamilton and Holmes would no longer testify against them.

According to HotNewHipHop, Hamilton said that police allegedly threatened her if she didn’t come forward with any information. She even revealed that she is trying to get her current warrant lifted.

“I’m currently wanted,” she shared. “I’ve tried to get the warrant lifted plenty of times but it’s just been a constant battle with my lawyer and the prosecutor, Kristine Bradley. So I’ve just been laying low trying to get the warrant lifted before I could even come in and speak my part.”

After it was reported that Demons had his phone privileges revoked, he allegedly orchestrated the transfer of his handwritten notes to various cell blocks using nonverbal gestures.

According to HipHopDX, in their claimed attempt to tamper with witnesses, YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen were joined by a third participant, an inmate by the name of Terrence Mathis.

On Oct. 2, Henry’s Miami house, which he shares with his girlfriend, Neak Baby was raided before his recent arrest.

Neak Baby shared with social media that some of her and Henry’s items were seized during the raid.

“The police took my phones, my laptop, my bill notebook, and my headscarf. Probably more I just aint realize cause I’m still picking **** up from them kicking my door in and ransacking my place,” she shared.

She also revealed that two Playstations, and one of Henry’s chains were also removed from their home.

The 24-year-old has been charged with two first-degree murders as well as two charges of accessory after the fact. The killings of their friends Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas are believed to have been covered up by Demons, with Henry’s assistance, according to investigators.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that officials determined Henry was the person who transported Williams and Thomas’ dead bodies to a nearby hospital and helped establish that the two men were killed in a drive-by shooting.

Henry was released in 2021 on bail with the conditions that he wear an ankle monitor and not from contacting witnesses, unlike his co-defendant Demons.

Demons’ long-awaited trial ended in a mistrial after jurors spent days discussing but were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

He awaits a retrial, which is set to begin on Oct. 9. Henry’s trial was set to begin on Oct. 2; however, it has been postponed until January 12, 2024.
