More information about Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry’s witness tampering charge has been revealed. Hip hop journalist Bryson Paul released documents from the arrest report via his X account that included screenshots of Instagram DM’s between Bortlen and Felicia Holmes, the mother of co-defendant YNW Melly’s ex-girlfriend, Mariah Hamilton.
Holmes makes repeated pleas that Henry, who alongside Jamell “YNW Melly” Demons is accused of killing Chris “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams in 2018, leave her and Hamilton alone because the two “have ruined enough lives.”
“If I call that prosecutor & tell them I’ve been in contact with you & you ******* with my child, your ass going in,” she warned. “Melly a snake & just like he did Sak, Juvy, his mom & [redacted] u next.”
Holmes implies that her daughter has withheld incriminating information from investigators and could “have ended Melly months ago.”
“If she told on Melly, his ass would be getting the death penalty Y’all keep ******* with her & he will,” she wrote.
Holmes also dropped hints of money being offered in exchange for silence. Referring to “the devil’s money.”
“Mariah don’t need his money. She’s always lived good & will continue. Melly not the only **** with money & at least I kno she won’t be harmed,” she added.
Henry, who was previously out on bond, was arrested and charged with witness tampering on Oct. 2. Demons was given the same charge two days later. Authorities allege that the two used code words and a third party to communicate with Holmes and Hamilton in an effort to keep them away from the witness stand.
YNW Melly was originally expected to begin a retrial for the dual counts of premeditated murder on Monday. However, accusations against the prosecution for withholding evidence
have forced a delay. The first effort resulted in a mistrial when the jurors failed to come to a unanimous agreement.
