For the first time since the tragedy at the Astroworld Festival in November of 2021, attorneys questioned Travis Scott about the incident.

A report from the Associated Press says that the rapper sat in the hot seat for eight hours on Monday as part of a civil deposition connected to the hundreds of lawsuits filed against him over the deadly turn of events in Houston.

A gag order has prevented more details from coming out. However, Ted Anastasiou, a spokesperson for the rapper, issued a statement about the deposition being “typical legal procedure.” Anastasiou also said that Scott has fully cooperated with the legal process and has been “cleared of any wrongdoing by extensive government investigations, including by the Houston Police Department.”

In late June, a grand jury declined to indict Scott and five others on any criminal charges. A month later, the HPD released its investigative report, an over 1,200 page document that contained interview summaries, transcripts of 911 calls and festival workers warnings about potentially fatal problems.

10 lives were lost in the crowd surge at NRG Park. The victims died as a result of accidental compression asphyxia and were between the ages of 9 and 27.

Over 1,500 active cases have been filed naming Scott, concert promoter Live Nation, Apple Music and other entities related to the concert. The first civil trial is scheduled to begin on May 6, 2024.
