Tory Lanez has applied for bail for the second time as he serves his time.
The incarcerated rapper reportedly applied for bail as he continues to serve his 10-year prison sentence in connection to the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion shooting. His first attempt was unsuccessful as it was denied last month.
“Tory Lanez has been in prison for three weeks, but he hasn’t given up on bail,” Legal Affairs and Trials reporter Meghann Cuniff tweeted. “His lawyers are asking an appellate court to let him out of prison as he appeals his convictions and 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.”
“The arguments are nearly identical to the motion Judge Herriford rejected at the Sept. 14 hearing in LA, including the forgoing of any mention of the rehab pushed at sentencing,” she continued.
In his second motion, Lanez (born Daystar Peterson) used nearly the same exact arguments to be granted bail as his first attempt. According to the recently surfaced legal documents, Peterson informed Judge David Herriford that he isn’t “a flight risk due to his high profile.”
If Peterson is granted bail, his legal team firmly believes that the bail can create “substantive legal questions” could result in a “reduced sentence” or a “reversal.
In terms of his legal woes, Peterson was denied bail back in Sept. He was transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California to serve three to six months of his 10-year sentence.
After it was reported that the Canadian rapper was allegedly “scared for his life,” he updated fans as he shared a high-spirited update from behind bars.
“Ayo, Umbrellas, man. What’s good?” Lanez began. “I’m talking to you live from prison right now. I’m just happy to get out that bull**** county jail. They was hating on a young fly *****, you heard? Had me on 24-hour lockdown, half-sized cell by myself. No windows. No mirrors. ***** ain’t even seen himself in a whole year.”
