As he begins to serve his time behind bars, Tory Lanez is reportedly “scared for his life” while behind bars.
“Tory is scared for his life and safety in prison,” a source revealed. “He feels like he is an instant and direct target because of his celebrity status.”
“He stands in at 5-foot-3, so his size is definitely a setback. He is housed with real hardcore criminals and murderers. So he is really hoping that his lawyers will be able to continue to fight for his freedom while still maintaining his innocence. The whole thing is a mess,” the source continued.
Additionally, according to TMZ, Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, has been placed in “administrative segregation” because of his fame, which largely keeps him isolated from other prisoners. According to the publication, he has been escorted to the showers where he bathes by himself, and if he chooses to spend time in the yard, he’ll be the only one in the fenced-off area.
Tory was convicted and received a 10-year sentence in the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion shooting case on Aug. 8.
He showed up in court on Sept. 14 to contest his lengthy prison sentence. During his hearing, LA County Judge David V. Herriford, the same judge that handed down Peterson’s sentence, finally rejected his request for bond.
Meghann Cuniff, a legal affairs reporter, said the Canadian rapper asked for bail following his criminal conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The 31-year-old was transferred to a medium security facility, North Kern State Prison in Delano, California on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Tory reportedly declined a four-year plea agreement in an effort to uphold his innocence. But according to entertainment attorney Michael Freedman, there is basically no chance that Lanez’s motion would have been granted.
