Tory Lanez On 22 Hour Lockdown While He Awaits Prison Transfer

After being sentenced on Tuesday for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez is expected to be a guest of the state of California until 2032. As the Sorry 4 What artist awaits transfer to his more permanent residence in the penal system, he will remain in Los Angeles County Jail. Lanez’s living arrangements will be significantly different from what the Grammy-nominated rapper and singer has been accustomed to when he lands at one of The Golden State’s 34 penitentiaries.

A report from TMZ gives us a glimpse into Lanez’s accommodations at the moment. Perhaps the least surprising detail revealed is that he is not housed in general population and is instead being held in the Administrative Segregation Unit. A common place for celebrities who find themselves on the wrong side of the justice system. Other inmates will have extremely limited access to him. While this is a safety precaution done for his protection, the downside means that he has limited human contact and time outside of his cell.

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is only allotted two hours a day outside of his cell. He is alone at that time as well. Every week he’s also given three hours of recreation time, which will give him the chance to “get some fresh air.”

As is the standard procedure for inmates in protective custody, staff at the LA County Jail will check on Tory once every half-hour. He is also able to purchase items from the commissary. When he is transferred to another facility, he will keep the commissary items and any money left on his books.

Sometime within the next month, Lanez is expected to arrive at an intake center, where he will be told what state facility will be home for the years to come.

After the sentencing, Lanez has maintained his innocence and plans to appeal the verdict.

“I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do,” he said in a statement to his fans on Instagram. “This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall, and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious.”
