As the layers of Kanye West’s personality continue to reveal themselves, conversations about the “Old Kanye” and the “New Kanye” gain new ammunition. This time, T.I. added his perspective to the mix. 

The Atlanta rapper paid a visit to the Breakfast Club and spoke on his first experiences working with Kanye West.

“Kanye was cool as hell. I ain’t even gonna cap,” he told Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy. “He was more conversational. He read the room a lot better.”

The King of The South then highlighted a big difference between the rapper/producer turned fashion mogul.

“It feels like Ye got to a point where he just stopped reading the room and just gave everything everywhere,” he said.

The “Grand Hustle Records” founder shared memories of Ye before the release of his blockbuster album “College Dropout,” excitedly sharing future hit songs like “Through The Wire,” “All Falls Down,” and “Jesus Walks.” The latter of which led Tip to believe that since “religion and corporations don’t tend to mix,” the eventual GOOD Music head would either “do very well or extremely bad.”

The pair first worked together in 2003 when the Roc-A-Fella Records in-house beatmaker lent his talents for two songs on Tip’s sophomore album “Trap Muzik”: “Doin’ My Job” and “Let Me Tell You Something.”

Over the years, they reunited several times, most notably for “Paper Trail’s” “Swagga Like Us.” 

As Kanye moved toward right-wing politics by endorsing then-President Donald Trump in 2018, the two held a debate within the track “Ye vs the People.”
