Lizzo has been facing social scrutiny due to several former employees suing her for sexual harassment. According to Page Six, the singer made employees endure “weight-shaming, sexually denigrating behavior and participation in disturbing sex show.”
Lizzo allegedly fired one of her backup dancers for recording one of their private meetings. The former employee told reporters that she only did this for the purpose of having notes to look back on.
Lizzo responded to these allegations.
“I am hurt, but I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this,” she continued. “I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me up during this difficult time.”
Since her response, six more former employees have come forward, voicing their grief about working alongside the singer. The attorney, Ron Zambrano, came forward recently with another statement against Lizzo.
“We have received at least six inquiries from other people with similar stories since we filed the complaint,” Zambrano said.
“Noelle, Crystal and Arianna have bravely spoken out and shared their experiences, opening the door for others to feel empowered to do the same. Some of the claims we are reviewing involve allegations of a sexually charged environment and failure to pay employees and may be actionable, but it is too soon to say,” he concluded.
Not only did the ladies sue Lizzo, but they sued her touring company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. Amazon had recently started auditions for the new season of Watch Out For The Big Grrls, in which Lizzo found plus-size dancers to take on tour.
Lizzo was set to perform at Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival alongside SZA. But due to recent events, the show has been canceled.
“Due to severe circumstances outside of production control, the 2023 Made In America festival will no longer be taking place,” the Made In America Twitter page reported.
