More than nine months have passed since the death of Migos rapper Takeoff, in Houston, and now Quavo’s assistant is suing the venue where it happened.

Joshua Washington was one of the four people hurt in the shooting on Nov. 1, 2022. The tragic incident, which took Takeoff’s life, happened at 810 Houston; a billiards lounge and bowling alley. Washington has filed a lawsuit claiming that the venue didn’t have enough security in place or adequate emergency assistance before and after the shooting.

Civil rights activist attorney Bakari Sellers from the Storm Law Firm and Audio Jones from the Office of Audia Jones are serving as legal representation for Washington.

“810 Houston was warned that they needed extra security. They knew it was a hotspot for violent crime and that an after-hours event like this could turn deadly in a second. But they ignored those warnings and now they have blood on their hands,” Sellers stated.

Both the owners and the property managers of the venue are accused of not having security measures in place that left people like Migos staff member Joshua Williams vulnerable.

“There was no one,” Washington recounted the shooting. “The bullets started flying and no one came to help. No security guards were trying to stop the shooting, no one to help those of us who were hurt, no one at all. They just left us there to die.”

Washington was serving as a personal assistant for the Atlanta rap group. He says he was an innocent bystander and got hit with a bullet wound that narrowly missed his colon.

The family of Takeoff also pressed charges against the lounge in July.

Quavo’s latest album, “Rocket Power,” pays tribute to the rapper’s nephew and bandmate. The 18-track project features guest appearances from Future, Young Thug, and Takeoff himself.
