Offset decided to have some fun at the expense of Bobbi Althoff. The Migos member took Althoff’s signature interview style as the perfect springboard for trolling.
On an episode of Althoff’s “The Really Good Podcast” that was released on Thursday, the social media influencer found herself repeatedly shaded by her guest. Instead of playing second fiddle to Althoff’s monotone sarcasm, Offset elected to fire back with his own brand of understated wit.
When the “Jealously” MC asks a question to Althoff, the host quickly replies, “This is my interview, not yours.”
“I mean, it’s ours…I’m allowing you to interview me. It’s a partnership,” he said.
Offset continued pushing back on her dry humor by interrupting her, offering single-word answers to questions and essentially giving her Althoff the same energy she typically gives to her guests.
The two briefly went back and forth about who initiated their sit down, with Offset declaring a “flag on the play” when Althoff suggested that the Motown signee’s camp reached out to her. The exchange continued with Offset stating that he didn’t know who Althoff was and he believed she was Adam Sandler’s character in “The Water Boy.” “They had to show me who Bobbi was, I thought they was talking about Bobby Boucher.”
When Althoff said she had to Google Offset while en route to the interview, he countered with, “I had to go on Tiktok, I couldn’t even Google you…You’re not there yet, but you’ll be there.”
On Monday, Atlantic writer and former ESPN personality Jemele Hill called Althoff’s disinterested gimmick evidence that “real hip hop journalism has been practically erased” while reacting to a promotional clip from Offset’s appearance on the show.
Offset is the latest rapper to jump on the popular interview show. The podcaster has welcomed Tyga, Lil Yachty and NBA legend/former MC Shaquille O’Neal recently. Over the summer, an episode with Drake was mysteriously removed after the two unfollowed each other on social media.
