It appears that all is well between Offset and Quality Control, as they graciously agreed to part ways.
The 32-year-old rapper had sued the Atlanta-based music label over his solo recordings over a year ago.
“This is me going full-fledged into my solo career,” he told Variety. “The objective is to do it fully and smash sh*t and f*ck the game up as a solo artist. I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time.”
According to TMZ, documents stated that Offset’s argument was that the label was attempting to take full control of his music and was not being transparent about the deal they signed to.
Furthermore, it appears that a settlement will be reached as a result of all of this. The action was dropped on August 8.
According to sources close to Offset, he will not be re-joining QC as a solo artist… but all conflicts and differences have been ironed out.
Offset inked a production deal with Quality Control in 2013 that covered his work with Migos as well as his solo work.
Offset “negotiated a deal in which he reclaimed the rights to his own solo recording and songwriting from Quality Control,” according to court documents, and the new arrangement made the star the “sole owner of all rights, title, and interest in and to his services as a solo recording artist, entertainer, and songwriter.”
Offset has recently released tracks through Motown, an affiliate of Quality Control.
People close to Offset have stated that he will not be returning to the QC label as a solo artist, which is why hits like “Jealousy,” featuring his wife, Cardi B, are in collaboration with Motown.
Additionally, the disputes between him and his fellow Migos member, Quavo, have decreased, and they are mending their relationship.
