New videos depicting the immediate aftermath of the shooting that claimed King Von’s life have surfaced.
On Wednesday, an Instagram account called “chicagos.rarest” posted bodycam footage of BossTop, a fellow O’Block member, being arrested at the scene. As he is handcuffed and taken away, his voice can be heard asking about King Von’s condition.
“Is Von good?” BossTop asks another member of his crew. “He either good or he dead…He straight?”
While he was told that the “Crazy Story” rapper was still alive at that point, Von eventually succumbed to his injuries later that night.
More bodycam footage was shared on the No Jumper Instagram page, showing BossTop giving a vague description of the shooter to police. The “Shameless” rapper singled out “some motherf*cker with gold teeth” as the assailant.
On Nov. 6, 2020, Dayvon “King Von” Bennett was shot and killed after a physical altercation with Savannah, Georgia rapper Quando Rondo and his crew outside of the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta. Another Chicago native and member of the Black Disciples, Mark Blakely, was also killed in the incident. The alleged shooter, rapper Lul Tim, affiliated with Quando Rondo, sustained a gunshot wound. He was arrested and charged the next day.
Lul Tim, born Timothy Leeks, was released after posting a $100,000 conditional bond. He is currently awaiting trial, however, a date has yet to be set. King Von’s debut studio album, “Welcome To O’Block,” was released just a week before his death. The posthumous album, “What It Means to Be King,” was released in March of 2022 and hit number the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The follow-up release, “Grandson,” dropped this past July and reached number 14 on the chart.
