An unlikely alliance between the Barbz fanbase and gamers has made history.
Nicki Minaj is now a playable character in two popular titles from the “Call of Duty” franchise. As of Thursday, the digital likeness of the Brooklyn-bred MC can now shoot, stab, and detonate her way through the online multiplayer maps of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” and “Call of Duty: Warzone.” This makes her the first female celebrity to be incorporated into the COD Universe.
The Nicki Minaj Operator bundle is now available for purchase from the Call of Duty Store, encompassing many of the elements that have made the “Pink Friday” rapper a household name, with a notoriously devoted fan base.
For 2,400 Call of Duty Points, which is worth approximately $20, Barbz can enjoy the “Nicki Whip” vehicle skin, weapon loadouts named “The Baddest” and “Super Freaky,” and pink tracer rounds to match the character’s pink hair. Among Nicki’s finishing moves are an airborne stiletto heel stomp and using a microphone to slit an enemy’s throat.
The character also makes use of one of the most memorable voices in hip-hop. With lines like, “sometimes you gotta be the beauty and the beast” and, “I just finished that stupid ass,” Nicki’s trademark venomous bars haven’t been neglected.
A recipient of multiple American Music Awards, Minaj is the latest crossover appearance in the first-person shooter series. Other notable names include Snoop Dogg, “Die Hard” protagonist John McClane, and international soccer star Lionel Messi.
The Nicki Minaj Operator Bundle will also be available on “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” when it releases in November.
