Barter 16 has been the subject of much expectation thanks to Lil Uzi Vert, but a significant leak has put the Young Thug-inspired project in jeopardy.
According to HotNewHipHop, a number of tracks from Uzi’s upcoming project were unexpectedly posted online on Saturday. Even a now-incarcerated Young Thug, whose Barter 6 mixtape served as the project’s inspiration, is featured on one of the leaked tracks.

“Multiple songs off of Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Barter 16’ have surfaced online,” @Kurrco said regarding the leak via an X post. “A person connected to the leaks claims the entire project will be leaked by Sunday…”
Although Uzi never gave fans a definitive release date for the wildly anticipated project, fans now fear if they’ll get a chance to listen to the official project after this leak.
“Please don’t make Uzi tuck the Barter 16 with these leaks Damn, wait till it drop,” one fan said as he questioned if fans will have to wait even longer for the official release.
“Uzi already said he scrapped Barter 16 😭😭 leakers ruin everything, dawg,” one fan said.
Another questioned who has links to the leaked songs via an X post.
“Who got Barter 16 download since it prolly ain’t dropping anymore?” the user asked.
This isn’t the first time the Philly rapper has been targeted by leakers. In 2019, fans have collected funds to purchase the rapper’s unreleased music. A channel dubbed “Groupbuys” on the voice-and-text messaging software Discord gathered $1,250 on CashApp, according to an online report The Fader published, to purchase Uzi’s unreleased music.
Unhappy with the leaks, Uzi addressed the issue in an Instagram story posted on March 31st, warning the fans and potential leakers.
“Everytime something leaks, you know everything takes longer….so have fun,” he said.
The 28-year-old paid homage to Thug two days prior to the leak by recreating his own version of the classic Barter 6 mixtape cover for the incarnated rapper’s birthday.
“Happy birthday @thuggerthugger1 Barter 16 🅱️ soon 🩸 Love You 💚,” he said in an Instagram post caption.
