Lil Uzi Vert got wrapped up in a dognapping incident that had nothing to do with the Philly rapper.

According to TMZ, pictures of Uzi were included in a Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department Facebook post in Pennsylvania letting the public know to be on the lookout for a stolen dog. 

“Stolen ruby-colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, from Brookside Pups on Kidder St. last seen going on the turnpike believed to be heading to Philadelphia.” the post read, garnering hundreds of reshares.

It turns out the actual suspect had the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper as his profile picture on social media which led the police department to use the picture on their ‘Be On The Lookout’ social media bulletin. The mix-up wasn’t changed for another half hour and it became a field day for social media users noticing Lil Uzi has an alleged dognapper in his home state.

While it may have been an error, fans made fun of the police for the lack of attention to detail during their investigation. 

“The original photo of the male provided by the establishment was not the correct male.” the police department wrote when they got wind of their mishap on Facebook. “This current photo is the actor in question. We apologize for the error and any confusion.”

The rapper’s management, Roc Nation, didn’t take too kindly to their client’s picture of being involved in this blunder by the cops.

“The Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department should be embarrassed and ashamed for disparaging [Uzi’s] character,” the entertainment agency said in a statement to TMZ. “This grave error could’ve had significant repercussions on Uzi’s career and epitomizes how Black men can be wrongfully charged and arrested by police departments across the country.”

And if anyone was wondering how the Philly artist felt about animals, Roc Nation even sets the record straight on that.

“Uzi loves all animals and this serious mistake has deterred the apprehension of the kidnapper. Our collective hope is that the puppy is safely and promptly rescued,” they added in their strong-worded statement.

Lil Uzi has yet to mention anything about being falsely accused but he might have more pressing things to worry about like how the Barter 16 album got leaked last week.
