Another post was made to the 14-year-old Lil Tay’s Instagram Story on Tuesday, saying that her father, Christopher J. Hope, was behind her false death announcement last month.
“My abusive, racist, misogynistic woman-beating father faked my death,” white lettering set against a dark background reads, accompanied by a professional headshot of Hope, an attorney who has practiced law for over 10 years, according to his LinkedIn account.
However, Hope told TMZ that the allegations made in the IG post were false — and even defamatory.
“The person who is responsible for that Instagram post, as well as anyone repeating the completely false and libelous accusation within it, are virtually certain to become defendants in a defamation lawsuit,” he said.
“Everything stated is 100% false, and I trust that this should be obvious to anyone who knows me or the long history of absurd and untrue statements made by the various people who have controlled the Instagram account,” Hope added.
Later on Tuesday, another strange photo was posted to Lil Tay’s Instagram story. This one captured someone with long black nails holding onto a U.S. passport.
In August, a post was made on Lil Tay’s Instagram saying that she had passed away along with her older brother. The post said that her death was being looked into, but Vancouver police said that they had no evidence of Lil Tay.
The death of Lil Tay was quickly debunked. Tay’s family told TMZ that her Instagram account was hacked. Meta’s Facebook also confirmed this statement to be true. The false death statement was removed from Lil Tay’s Instagram feed on Aug. 10 after it was confirmed she and her brother were alive.
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess,” read a statement from Tay, provided by her family, according to the outlet
Lil Tay and her father have reportedly been at odds for years following Hope’s proceeding to court to gain full custody of Lil Tay. Tay alleged her father wanted to take her away from her mother due to the fact that he did not like his daughter’s lifestyle. He allegedly felt her mother was failing her in the direction she was going.
No one has heard from or seen Lil Tay in over five years. Fans and peers are concerned about her well-being, not knowing whether she is alive. No one has heard her voice, seen her face or even came across a recent photo.
