Lil Nas X has some words for critics who have negative comments regarding his latest music snippet.

The “Old Town Road” hitmaker revealed in a video shared on social media that he’s in his “Christian Era.”

“Y’all mind if I enter my Christian era?” he wrote in a caption of a video where he’s in a car before getting out in the street lip-synching a portion of his new song.

“Father, stretch my hands / The lonely road seems to last the longest,” the Grammy award winner sang in the 75-second clip. “Help me with my plans / Everything seems to go to nowhere / Oh, free me from worry and wanting pity / Free me from all this envy in me / I don’t want these feelings / I don’t want these feelings / I call on angels / I’m trying hard to face my pain, yeah / Give me hope when I feel / Give me hope when I feel less.”

Everyone wasn’t as supportive of Lil Nas X doing a religion-based song. The online backlash prompted him to address his ability to make spiritual music. He took to X, formally known as Twitter, to respond to the negative remarks.

“Making Christian music does not mean I can’t suck **** no more,” Lil Nas wrote online in response to the criticism. “The two are not mutually exclusive. I am allowed to get on my knees for multiple reasons.”

The “Industry Baby” rapper did not stop there, speaking his mind about his style of music. He took the time to call out a commenter who told him Christianity doesn’t work the way he’s doing it.

“Watch out, everybody, it’s the Christian correctional officer,” he replied to the commenter.

Lil Nas X is no stranger to criticism. He faced the antics he would take part in throughout his career. More recently, he became a trending topic when he dressed up as a bloody tampon for Halloween.
