It’s been 3 years since the devastating loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others.
A statue honoring the NBA icon Kobe Bryant has been in the works for some time now, and The Los Angeles Lakers are one step closer to making it happen.
The plan is to unveil the statue on August 8, 2024, or Mamba Day. The significance of the date comes from August being the unofficial Mamba month while highlighting Bryant’s jersey numbers, 8 and 24.
According to the Daily Mail, the long-awaited statue will be outside of the Crypto.com Arena and will incorporate his daughter Gigi. Bryant’s widow, Vanessa is also involved with the memorial tribute. There is no word if an artist has been selected for the piece.
Although murals have popped up across LA, many fans have been longing for an actual statue to pay their respects to the fallen NBA star who lost his life in a helicopter crash along with his daughter Gigi in January 2020.
