Kanye West is facing a lawsuit by a former employee regarding his California home.
The Chicago-born entertainer attempted to remodel his $57 million Malibu beachfront mansion into a “bomb shelter” without windows, plumbing, or electricity. He wanted to hide and be ducked off from the Kardashians and the Clintons, according to a new lawsuit.
Ye’s former construction manager and property caretaker, Tony Saxon, reportedly issued a 40-page lawsuit in the Superior Court for the County of Los Angeles. Saxon mentions West failed to pay him for his work on the home around the end of 2021 and fired him when he wasn’t able to finish the mansion transformation because of a back injury.
He also alleged Kanye West wanted to change out the electricity with large generators throughout the house. Saxon went on to explain to Ye that this would be a fire hazard if added. Then he claims Kanye lost his cool and raised his voice aggressively.
“When Plaintiff refused to engage in unlawful conduct or to engage in activity that would further cause him physical injury, Mr. Ye responded: ‘If you don’t do what I say, you’re not going to work for me, I’m not gonna be your friend anymore, and you’ll just see me on TV,’” Saxon’s law firm stated to NBC.
The lawsuit alleges violations of several labor codes, including dangerous working conditions, unpaid wages, and wrongful retaliatory termination.
Saxon told NBC that Kanye West wants “a bomb shelter from the 1910s.” He was tasked with gutting the place to build him a “Bat Cave” so he could “hide from the Clintons and Kardashians.”
The former security guard said the “Gold Digger” rapper had outlandish requests and was under the impression that he was doing work for an “art project”.
“Ye wanted no electricity,” Saxon said. “He only wanted plants, candles, battery lights, and to have everything open and dark. You can’t keep food in that house because you had no refrigerator left. You had no windows. I had seagulls flying in.”
“He wants to be on a privatized Wi-Fi network,” Saxon added. “He wants to have an alternate source of energy. He wants to have no doors, no windows, no fixtures, just concrete.”
Ye is also being sued by several teachers from his school, Donda Academy, for inconsistent pay and serious health and safety issues.
