This wasn’t Fat Joe’s first time sharing this story. According to Complex, Fat Joe revealed the same story Angie Martinez-hosted show entitled Untold Stories of Hip Hop back in 2019.
The Terror Squad legend also shared this story while he made an appearance on A&E’s Origins of Hip-Hop last May, according to the publication. However, he attributed his own experience with bullying to the nickname.
During his appearance, Fat Joe explained how a childhood friend named Leorard turned against him and joined his bullies, and jumped him.
Fat Joe also recalled how the heart crushing moment changed him.
“I went home and I cried for so many hours,” he explained.
“I had a black hoodie on, black jeans and black Timberland chukkas. I’m tying my chukkas over and over again and I was like, ‘I don’t give a **** I swear to God, giving it to everybody,” he continued.
“That was the birth of Joey Crack,” he added.
