Doja Cat is letting her supporters, and even her naysayers, know that losing followers on Instagram means nothing to her.
The rapper seems to embrace the fact she has lost around half a million followers in the last month.
In a recent Instagram story, the “Kiss Me More” artist added text over what appears to be a picture of a highway.
“Seeing all these people unfollow makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long and it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was,” she posted to her now 25.1 million followers.
She concluded the message with “I feel free.”
Fans of Doja Cat were largely disturbed by her alleged relationship with J Cyrus, a Twitch streamer who has been accused of emotional abuse by his followers online, according to Rolling Stone.
Another incident that rubbed people the wrong way, occurred when a fan asked the 27-year-old pop star to tell her supporters that she loved them. The Grammy-winning artist gave a lot of pushback and refused to admit her love, which led to many turning their back on the artist.
Doja Cat is set to embark on a 24-date tour to promote her upcoming album, “Scarlet,” which kicks off in October. She dropped the controversial singles “Attention” and “Paint the Town Red.”
