As Usher enlists Keke Palmer to parody their infamous concert encounter, a source close to the father of Palmer’s child all but confirms that the damage has been done to their relationship.
In a new report, the source tells People that Darius Jackson has “moved on” to focus on his own acting career.
Their relationship status has been in question since the video of the R&B star adding Palmer to his Las Vegas show, where she wore a revealing dress, led to Jackson publicly criticizing his then-significant other. While the two have not been spotted together since the incident and have scrubbed one another from their Instagram pages, both remained silent on the topic.
For now, co-parenting their son Leodis, whom the “Nope” actress gave birth to in February, is the main priority.
“You don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents,” the source said.
The “Boyfriend” music video premiered on Wednesday and takes some not-so-subtle jabs at the viral moment. The clip simultaneously mimics the night in Las Vegas that Palmer and her friends attended Usher’s “My Way” residency and the visuals for his previous hit single “U Don’t Have To Call.”
That song is notable for the opening adlib, “Don’t leave your girl around me, true player for real.” The Primetime Emmy winner even pokes fun at Jackson’s now-deleted tweet by saying, “I’m a mother after all,” while looking at the camera.
