Recent activities are still being linked to the death of beloved artist Pop Smoke three years after his tragic murder.
A barrel holding Javonnta Murphy’s remains washed up on a Malibu beach a week ago on July 31. Javonnta Murphy is the younger brother of Jaquan Murphy, an LA rapper known as Sirtanky.
The 32-year-old victim was discovered inside a 55-gallon barrel floating in the ocean near the Pacific Coast Highway bridge. Murphy’s brother, 24-year-old Jaquan Murphy, was one of five people arrested for Pop Smoke’s murder after the rapper was shot and killed during a home invasion robbery in the Hollywood Hills.
Although Jaquan and four other suspects were arrested for attempted murder at the time, Jaquan was later exonerated of the allegations.
According to TMZ, local authorities are now investigating Javonnta’s death to see whether there is any relation to the death of the late Drill Rapper.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department is looking into several scenarios, including the possibility that Javonnta was murdered to avenge the killing of Pop Smoke. However, they still lack evidence to support their claim and are investigating other possibilities.
Born Bashar Barakah Jackson was allegedly targeted by a group of robbers in February 2020 after his social media posts disclosed the location of the Airbnb he was renting.
After accidentally showing the address of the Airbnb, five individuals showed up at the house, one of whom was disguised and armed with a revolver. The individuals are thought to be members of a South Los Angeles gang, according to the LAPD.
Twenty-one-year-old Jaquan Murphy, 19-year-old Corey Walker, and 18-year-old Keandre D. Rodgers, all of Los Angeles, were recognized as suspects. Due to their juvenile age, the two additional suspects were only named as a 15-year-old, and a 17-year-old male.
In April, one of the teenage suspects, now 20 years old, pleaded guilty in juvenile court. He confessed to breaking into the Hollywood Hills estate as a juvenile in February 2020 in an attempt to rob the late “DIOR” rapper, who was fatally shot during a battle with the invaders.
