B.G. Greeted By Birdman Upon Prison Release

For the first time in over a decade, B.G. is a free man. The former Cash Money Records rapper was released from prison Tuesday after spending 12 years in FCI Herlong Prison for firearm possession and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Bryan “Birdman” Williams, who signed him to Cash Money Records in 1993, live-streamed on Instagram as the two laughed, embraced and exchanged words. Birdman also gifted the Hot Boys member a Cash Money chain.

Days before his release, B.G. celebrated his birthday with an Instagram post saying that he could “see the end zone” and that his sentence gave him “more than enough time” to change his “reckless path.”

In 2009, B.G., born Christopher Dorsey, was arrested alongside two others when police pulled over their stolen car and discovered several guns, some of which were also reported stolen, and ammunition. The rapper unsuccessfully attempted to have one of the other men claim the weapons were his. He pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison.

B.G. was an integral part of the New Orleans-based record label’s nationwide success. His single “Bling Bling” became a cultural phenomenon and reached number 36 on the Billboard charts.
