Looks like A$AP Rocky’s legal woes aren’t over yet. He now faces another lawsuit stemming from the alleged 2021 shooting of former A$AP Mob’s A$AP Relli.

According to TMZ, the former A$AP Mob member accused Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, and his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, of launching a smear campaign against him following the 2021 shooting where Relli suffered injuries. 

“Rocky didn’t commit a crime. It was an extortion attempt by a former associate, who threatened to make false criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him.” Tacopina argued. 

Not backing down, Relli argued that Tacopina’s remarks have resulted in numerous death threats and taunting. He demanded an unknown sum in defamation damages and hired Camille Vasquez to represent him. Vasquez is the same lawyer who represented Johnny Depp in his latest defamation suit against his former wife, Amber Heard.

He filed the first lawsuit in September 2022, where he filed on the grounds of assault, battery, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress that Rocky inflicted on him. However, they agreed to place the lawsuit on hold until the criminal case is completed.

In August 2022, Meyers was arrested and was formally charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm. Relli said that he met with the 34-year-old in a secret location to squash a brewing beef between the two. 

However, according to NPR, after Relli arrived, a confrontation ensued, and Rocky allegedly fired two shots at him. The LAPD claimed that Relli sustained minor injuries as a result.

In April 2022, Rocky was taken into custody while he was with his girlfriend, Rihanna, in LAX. His arrest caused police to search his Los Angeles residence and discovered numerous firearms. The firearms were allegedly legally purchased and had no link to the incident.

He pleaded not guilty to the formal charges and was freed after posting bond. However, if convicted, A$AP Rocky could spend up to nine years in prison if proven guilty.
