21 Savage is the latest rapper to join the “Call of Duty” family as a playable character.
The distributor of the interactive entertainment, Activision, will have the “Bank Account” rapper as part of their franchise through “Call of Duty: Warzone.”
The character plays on the ‘Savage Mode’ moniker of the rapper.
“It’s time to go savage mode 🔪,” the caption from the official Call of Duty Instagram account read. “Making his way into Call of Duty is the Slaughter King himself @21savage 💯”
Gamers can enjoy a finishing move from the Atlanta rapper called “Stabbed… a Lot,” which is a play off of his hit single with J. Cole “A Lot.” We’ve seen the bridge between hip-hop and gaming before with perhaps the EA’s Def Jam series being the most popular. This allowed you to choose rappers DMX, Ludacris, and Joe Budden, who were all affiliated with the Def Jam label at the time.
But in terms of the Call of Duty series, 21 Savage isn’t the only representation when it comes to hip-hop culture. Rap icons Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg were also added as playable characters in the franchise.
“These headliners deserve more than a passing mention, especially because they are here in celebration of five decades of hip-hop culture: Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and 21 Savage,” a statement read on the company’s website.
